Text Box: W. Joseph Schlitt is president of Hydrometal, Inc.  He has 40 years of worldwide hydrometallurgical experience.  His career has included work for both a large mining company and major engineering firms.  He is now a metallurgical consultant to the Minerals Industry and is a Qualified Professional (QP) member of the Mining & Metallurgical Society of America  (MMSA). Joe also has an advanced degree in metallurgy and is a licensed professional engineer.

His experience includes engineering, process assessments, research and development, and plant-oriented studies in the nonferrous industry.  Primary emphasis is in hydrometallurgy and chemical processing, particularly for copper. This includes vat, heap and dump, bio– and in situ leaching, plus metal value recovery.  Additional experience covers other leaching and recovery systems including molybdenum, zinc, vanadium, uranium, nickel and precious metals.  Joe has also done work on environmental control and assessment, closure plans, comminution, electrolytic processing, and mining.  Coverage includes new and existing operations, new mineral prospects, new technology, laboratory and pilot plant programs, and related areas such as plant start-ups, technology licensing, contractor liaison and governmental affairs.
